The SFMA is a movement based diagnostic system that physical therapists use to determine the root cause of pain, by breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns within a patient's body. Karly is certified in this assessment screen and uses this screening tool in her comprehensive evaluation and in every follow up therapy session to assist her with restoring function in her clients' bodies.
An assessment of your unsupported sitting position.
The therapist will assess your base of support and spinal alignment in sitting.
The therapist will provide hands on facilitation to assist you in finding your pelvic floor and base of support, and will assist you into a more vertical spinal alignment. Mechanical dysfunction will be identified in your body (i.e. soft tissue restrictions, joint restrictions, and muscular weakness) and the therapist will provide corrective exercises to address these dysfunctions.
The therapist can also make recommendations to assist your supported sitting posture as well (sitting in a car, on a couch, on a recliner, at a chair at work)
